parenting infants and toddlers
What bad parenting have you seen that drives you NUTS!?
Ok, I’m not saying I’m perfect at all…but I know I’m not the only one who see’s bad parenting and has to bite their tongue. What are some things that you’ve seen parent’s do that you can’t stand? This is meant to be fun venting…I’m really curious to read all your answers!
I’ve seen my own family members doing the following…
Babies/toddlers drinking soda!
Parent’s threatening timeouts, but never once following through.
Toddlers watching tv all day/watching pg 13 movies in the basement by themselves!
Letting a 3 year old decide that candy was for dinner just so they would stop crying.
Saw a lady in the grocery store yelling at her infant to “shut up and stop acting a fool”
oh yeah, my sister in law let her two year old run around at a restaurant about a month ago, he ended up pulling the fire alarm! to calm him down, she left all of us at the table so she could put him in front of the dvd player in the van.
I have to wonder if K9girl has kids…
Alana I almost thought you were talking about me until I read the part about using Dora as a babysitter! No TV in MY house unless my husband is sitting in front of it and watching it (as opposed to watching the back of his eyelids…)
I have been guilty of the soda for my son, but that was mainly because of the heat, it was the only thing I could think of to use to cool him down! (he was on the verge of heatstroke)
My pet peeve is the screechers- those are the parents who simply cannot seem to talk to their kids without screeching at them!
I also despise the parents who ASK their kids to cease bad behaviour- when the kid is throwing themselves on the floor in a screaming fit ASKING them to behave isn’t going to do anything! It’s that saccharine sweet tone of voice that they do it in that really peeves me- they’re BIGGER then the kid, they can FORCE them to behave!
Parents who let their kids SIT in wet/dirty nappies for HOURS simply because it isn’t convenient for them to change it, and who then whinge about their kids having a rash!
Parents who let their kids run feral in the shops, I can myself letting my son run loose but there is a difference between letting a child roam while supervised and letting a child out of your sight and having them destroy the display stock!
Parents with obese kids who insist their darling is just big boned and not fat- last time I looked a three year old in size ten was OBESE! There is NO WAY a kid can be THAT big boned! These are also the same parents who let their kids order that jumbo sized meal from KFC and insist they eat ALL of it!
Parents who let their kids eat food in grocery stores, I KNOW that kid is eating something the parent has just grabbed off the shelf and is not going to pay for! What’s wrong with buying them a snack BEFORE you start the shop so that they don’t get hungry WHILE you shop!
